Gallery Nelson is a small woman-owned and operated design business, primarily focusing on residential interior design and art consultation. Although Nelson has been interior design consulting for years, she is slated to complete her MA in Interior Architecture and Design in May 2021. Her portfolio is a combination of professional and student work.
“All my life I’ve been studying and practicing effective communication with words and imagery using different tools from Computer Automated Design software (Revit), photography and paint to various textiles and digital pixels. Visual impressions are generally the first to be made, and proper ergonomics bring us comfort, which is why the space we live in and the furniture have so much impact on our psyche. Turning a desired space-vision into reality usually starts with hand made sketches and drawings. Once my clients approve of the direction to go in – I take the ball and run.” – Amber Nelson
Nelson’s education and experience come from a myriad of places and so do her clients. Prior to studying for the MA in Interior Architecture and Design, she received a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a double major in Art History and Studio Art as well as a minor in Business and Marketing, and her MA in Publication Design from the University of Baltimore. Over the years she has continued to work for herself and others – all while educating herself in the fields of art/photography, interior design, graphic design, and TV/Film. She is also a 20 – year member of the Screen Actors Guild / American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
